Rockmount

The Rockmount dream began in the early 90’s when Robert and Diane Patterson decided to turn part of their farmland near Carryduff, into an eighteen-hole championship standard golf course. “Grand Design” or “Epic Failure” – Golf Royalty investigates.

Castlereagh Hills

Open to club members and the public, Castlereagh Hills Golf Club has acquired a well-deserved reputation as the hidden gem of municipal golf courses in Northern Ireland. There are not many “public” parklands left on these shores, so Golf Royalty thought best to investigate.

Mount Ober

Mount Ober Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 67 course on the outskirts of South Belfast. With the golfing season now moving into full swing I decided to take the opportunity to visit Mount Ober and check out the facilities on offer, both for the low handicap player and the budding golfer alike.

Royal Belfast

The oldest golf club in Ireland played host to Golf Royalty at the end of Easter in 2009. Belvoir Park

Belvoir Park, described by its esteemed designer Harry Colt as “a course affording an excellent test, and at the same time, one that will give maximum pleasure to golfers.” There has never been any doubt that Belvoir Park Golf Club is one of the authoritative, classic parkland courses in Ireland. Golf Royalty ventured to Belvoir to find out more.

Shandon Park

It was a fine Easter afternoon when I ventured to Shandon Park for Golf Royalty’s first course review of 2009. The club is widely regarded as one of the great city based parklands courses in Ireland. Situated in the leafy suburbs of East Belfast, Shandon Park did not disappoint; a true gem that is hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding area.
